Surprisingly to me Bobby Fischer has been reported to have died.

Bobby Fischer was a great champion!
He will leave a legacy of the "Will to Win" and to "Never Give Up"! He single-handedly exposed the Soviet chess machine and beat Boris Spassky despite agreed draws between their GM's to always keep the World Championship in Soviet hands.

Fischer was eccentric...thats about as negative as I would like to comment about him. After all...most of us really only care about what he did as a chess player and not what his position was "On This or That".

We will miss you Bobby

A long, long time ago, I can still remember,
How that Bobby used to make me smile,
And I knew if he had his chance,
That he could make those pieces dance,
And maybe, he'd be happy, for a while.
But January made me shiver,
When the 17th's paper was delivered,
Bad news on the doorstep,
And I couldn't take one more step.

I can't remember if I cried,
When I read about his widowed pride,
But something touched me deep inside,

The day that Bobby died.

Nice Lyrics. :-)

Are you a Don McLean fan? I like his album 'Tapestry' even more than 'American Pie'.

Yeah, the first "45" record I ever got when I was a kid was American Pie by Don McLean. I thought the Fischer version was appropriate for Bobby.

I did get to play him 3 games of Gothic Chess from the online site, GothicChessLive.com, when it was up and running.
