I'll play someone a blog game

If someone wants to handle the graphics, I'll play someone a blog game at 1 move each day or faster.

I could try to play a game against you :-)

I can offer links with pictures of current board.

That has to be the ugliest picture I have ever seen, LOL!!

You need to download the new Gothic Chess file for Zillions, but I forget where it is. Anyone remember where it was posted??

The Zillions thing for Gothic is---

Crocodile23 said...

OK here is a better one:

Use this. Put in on the top.

3. g3

OK, my last move for today. Just letting you know so you don't keep looking for it.

Cartaphilus said...

Looks like Angelfire won't allow you to display it on another website.

Place the new file back under the previous place on freehostia.com

Cartaphilus said...

Make sure the path and file name is

http://crocodile13.freehostia.com/GothicC.JPG

or else it won't show.

Crocodile23 said...

OK let's make it complicated:

3...g5

Finally use this for the picture:

Cartaphilus said...

4. Nc3 I don't see any complications with the g5 pawn push.

Crocodile23 said...

4...c6

Well i meant 3...g6 would be more solid than the more aggressive 3...g5.

Cartaphilus said...

5. Nxg5

Welcome to Cartaphilus Territory!

Crocodile23 said...

5...hxg5

I don't understand why you gave me a Knight for 2 Pawns?
Perhaps i have to learn some things for Gothic Chess:-)

Crocodile23 said...

Note that the comment about "black is a bit better" is mine.
As i've said perhaps i'm wrong and Nxg5 is a really good move.

Your move surprised me and i definitely have to learn more about Gothic Chess although i believe your move was dubious but i guess we will see who is correct after all:-)

Cartaphilus said...

6. Bxg5

You need to update the diagram. It's not showing the current position.

Crocodile23 said...

You need to refresh your page. I guess it shows the cached picture you had.

I wonder if maybe Tornado or Variant Pulverizer is one of these 10x8 chess programs (or maybe both?)

What do you think?

Crocodile23 said...

7...Nh6

Cartaphilus said...

8. Qd2

You were right about the cache needing to be cleared before I could see the updated diagram. I wonder WTF is up with that?

Crocodile23 said...

8...e5

I think this is a good move so 8...e5!

Crocodile23 said...

Note also that in most browsers you don't need to clear the cache to see the updated picture and while in many cases just pressing the refresh button doesn't work, pressing CTRL+R updates the page completely so you can see the new picture.

9. dxe5

That's the first time I heard anyone claim a mere center pawn push so early deserves an exclam. Tells me you're an amateur, big time.

Crocodile23 said...

Early or not early doesn't matter.

Crocodile,

Don't mind carta he insults everyone he plays, constantly.

:)

Victor Vector said...

Why did you trade your knight for 2 pawns Cartaphilus?

Crocodile23 said...

10...f6

DuelingBishops:
I haven't felt insulted :-)

Victor Vector:
To obtain an attack to my King. An attack that was not there in my opinion, but we will see how he will try to attack.
Speculative sacrifice. Let's see how the game will proceed.

I tried to create a link and make my own request for a blog game. Is there any way to do this? I'd like to play somebody.

GothicChessInventor said...

At this link:

download

There is an installer that will allow you to play Gothic Chess games without a server with another opponent. Install it, and let me know if you have your copy working.

Crocodile23 said...

11...d4

Let the attack begin. White will attack now, i have to find a good defense.

Cartaphilus said...

12. Rd1

Cartaphilus said...

Victor to answer your question from a few days ago, I did this trade to try and mess with black. I was playing to upset the position, for better or for worse, because I always play better in situations like that.

13...Nc6

Now it gets interesting :-)
You will attack i will defend and in the end..

Cartaphilus said...

14. Bd5

Cartaphilus always attacks!!

Crocodile23 said...

And Crocodile defends. Crocodile attacks in the end:-)

Seems like the pace of this game has slowed way down.

Crocodile23 said...

Yes it is my fault for that since i'm only few hours at home to play a move or two.

GothicChessInventor said...

I remember some of my games with Cartaphilus used to feature games of complete wreckless abandon, each side trying to completely annihilate the other.

Here is one such game:

Gothic Inventor vs. Cartaphilus

It is not uncommon for him to spend some energy to chase the king, but it the above game, I managed to turn the tables and hunt him in the same way.

He is always an interesting opponent, and you never know what move he will play, making him very very dangerous!

Cartaphilus said...

Ed I had you beat so many times in those games it ain't even funny. You always managed to get out of it somehow like friggin Houdini.

18. Qi7+!

There, eat that!

Crocodile23 said...

18...Af7!

If i played carelessly with 18...Ke6? then after 19.Ah3+ Kd6 20.Rxd5+ Kxd5 21.Cd3+ Kc4 22.Af4!! you would have won or drawn for sure.
My move keeps me with the advantage.

I have seen this long ago, from the 13...Nc6 move :-)

When you guys are done, can we discuss why white didn't just take the Bishop after black's 21st move? Thanks!

Crocodile23 said...

geography_teacher:
After capturing the Bishop with 22.fxe5?? then i had a pretty mate with Cd2+ #

geography_teacher said...

oh right, I should have seen that!

Cartaphilus said...

Well it's been more than 24 hours. Game over.

Crocodile23 said...

Well i hope you are kidding, yesterday i was too busy and had no time for games.

Joking or not 23...Bxi2

GothicChessInventor said...

Well he did request someone to play that would make a move at least once every 24 hours. Carta is a "stickler" for those kind of rules.

Crocodile23 said...

Yes he may be, but this is not an official game, just an informal one and you can't expect people to have time to fully devote to this game since there is a job for them to do.

That was the case with me. Not time for fun the last 2 days so no time to look at this game.

But i guess here, Carta being a stickler is not the problem. The problem is Carta hates losing. :-)

geography_teacher said...

No matter how bad your position is, you win when the othe person's flag falls.

:)

Crocodile23 said...

Yes in an official game.

But in an informal game like this do you suggest that i had to leave my job, drive home, play a move and then return to my job?

Fact is i outplayed Cartaphilus and would win. I'm satisfied with that:-)

GothicChessInventor said...

I don't think it is proper to claim a win for either player in this case. If I know Cartaphilus, he's more upset and having to wait more than 24 hours for a move and he would discontinue play even if there was a mate in 1 move for him to move and win.

If you did not think you could make a move within 24 hours, it would be proper etiquette to let the other player know about this in advance.

I would suggest challenging him to another game, swap colors, and start over.

Just my own opinion.

Crocodile23 said...

I don't claim a win! I just claim i outplayed cartaphilus and this is obvious if you see and analyze the position.

As for another game no i can't, since my time does not allow me to be sure that i will play 1 move per 24 hours at most.

ChessCarpenter said...

I have to agree with crocodile! This is an unrated & friendly game. Cartaphilus, whats the big deal? Be a sport and have some fun! A rated game I could see! Ed and I have played many friendly games and have given each other moves over...if this is possible anything is!!!

Cartaphilus said...

Say what you want. I like quicker games and I made most of my moves in about 30 seconds from the time I saw 'em. I gave you a friggin handicap since you were new and I'd kick the ever loving shit out of you if we played live. Asshole!
